New Delhi, 13th Jan: The political row over alleged remarks made during a Delhi Assembly debate on Guru Teg Bahadur’s sacrifice has escalated into a public poster war between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party, spilling out of the House and onto the streets and social media.

The latest flashpoint came on Tuesday when Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra released a poster targeting Leader of Opposition Atishi Marlena. The poster features Atishi’s photograph with the word “Missing” prominently displayed, accompanied by a question asking where she has been since the January 6 Assembly discussion marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur.

Addressing a press conference, Mishra claimed that Atishi left the Assembly shortly after the debate and has since avoided the media. He alleged that attention was being deliberately diverted by the registration of an FIR against him in Punjab over a video clip from the Assembly proceedings, accusing the AAP leadership of using state machinery to deflect from the original controversy.

The BJP has made Atishi’s continued absence a central plank of its attack, demanding that she publicly address the allegations and clarify her position on the remarks that triggered the row.

The Aam Aadmi Party responded with a counter-poster aimed at Mishra, carrying the slogan “Guruaan ka apmaan nahi sahega Hindustan” (India will not tolerate insult to Gurus) and demanding an apology from the Delhi Minister. The party accused Mishra of stoking controversy through selective clips and provocative messaging.

At the centre of the dispute remains a video clip first shared by Mishra, which AAP leaders allege was doctored. The Punjab Police registered an FIR in the matter, intensifying the confrontation. The BJP has questioned Punjab Police jurisdiction, arguing that Assembly proceedings fall under the authority of the Speaker and should not be acted upon by another state.

While the BJP continues to demand Atishi’s apology and accuses the AAP of evasion, the ruling party in Delhi maintains that the controversy is politically manufactured and has doubled down on its demand for accountability from Kapil Mishra.
