Ahmedabad, Gujarat,9th Jan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Ahmedabad on January 12. This marks Chancellor Merz’s first official visit to India, scheduled from January 12 to 13, at the invitation of PM Modi. The visit is aimed at further strengthening the India-Germany Strategic Partnership, which recently completed 25 years.

As part of the programme in Gujarat, the leaders will visit Sabarmati Ashram at around 9:30 am, followed by participation in the International Kite Festival at the Sabarmati Riverfront at 10 am. Bilateral engagements are set to begin at 11:15 am at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.

During their discussions, PM Modi and Chancellor Merz will review progress under the India-Germany Strategic Partnership and explore ways to intensify cooperation in key sectors, including:

  • Trade and investment, technology, education, skilling, and mobility
  • Defence and security collaboration
  • Science, innovation, and research partnerships
  • Green and sustainable development initiatives
  • People-to-people exchanges

The two leaders will also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest and are expected to interact with business and industry leaders from both countries.
