New Delhi, 2nd Jan: A three-day cultural and literary festival ‘Shabdotsav 2026’ was inaugurated in Delhi on Friday by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The festival opened with a collective rendition of Vande Mataram, setting a patriotic and cultural tone for the celebrations.
Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra, Delhi Government Minister Kapil Mishra and several senior functionaries associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh were present at the inaugural ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Harsh Malhotra said Shabdotsav reflects the essence of India’s rich and diverse heritage. He recalled that when India was a global centre of learning, institutions such as Nalanda and Takshashila attracted scholars from across the world. He said the New Education Policy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is linking education with skills while strengthening the cultural connect of the youth.
Highlighting India’s linguistic richness, Malhotra noted that the country has more than 340 living languages and over 1,600 dialects, calling it a cultural strength unmatched globally.
Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra said Delhi is witnessing a renewed focus on art and culture under CM Rekha Gupta’s leadership. He added that several grand cultural programmes have been organised in recent months, and Shabdotsav 2026 marks a new beginning in reviving India’s cultural consciousness.
