Porbandar, 29th Dec: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday lauded the Indian Navy, designers, artisans and shipbuilders as INSV Kaundinya embarked on her maiden voyage from Porbandar to Muscat, Oman, marking a revival of India’s ancient maritime craftsmanship.
Built using the traditional Indian stitched-ship technique, INSV Kaundinya reflects the country’s rich seafaring heritage. Congratulating all those involved in bringing the vessel to life, the Prime Minister said the ship highlights India’s enduring maritime traditions and historic links with the Gulf region and beyond.
Extending his best wishes to the crew, Modi said he hoped for a safe and memorable journey as the vessel retraces ancient sea routes that once connected India with trading partners across the Arabian Sea.
The voyage is seen as a significant cultural and maritime milestone, showcasing India’s traditional shipbuilding techniques and strengthening historical maritime ties with the Gulf region.
