New Delhi, 29th Dec: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated Indian chess players Koneru Humpy and Arjun Erigaisi for winning bronze medals at the 2025 FIDE World Rapid Chess Championship held in Doha.

In the women’s section, Koneru Humpy finished strongly to secure the bronze medal. Praising her performance, the Prime Minister said her dedication to the game is commendable and extended his best wishes for her future endeavours.

In a separate message, Prime Minister Modi congratulated Arjun Erigaisi for clinching the bronze medal in the open section of the championship. He described Erigaisi’s grit as noteworthy and wished him success in his future competitions.

The twin achievements add to India’s growing presence on the global chess stage, reflecting the country’s rising stature in international tournaments.
