Guwahati, 27th Dec: With Assam heading into Assembly elections in early 2026, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its organisational push as National Working President Nitin Nabin on Friday launched the party’s grassroots campaign, ‘Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot’, calling on workers to strengthen booth-level outreach and deepen people’s connect.

Addressing party workers in Guwahati during the inaugural session of the two-day BJP Assam state executive meeting, Nabin announced that the party will create 3,400 new polling booths, raising the total number from 28,000 to 31,400 ahead of the elections.

“Booth workers play the central role in defining the party’s future. They are the driving force behind BJP’s growth in Assam,” Nabin said, urging workers to take Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development agenda and the NDA government’s welfare schemes to every household.

He said only three months remain for the polls and called upon party members to work collectively for the NDA’s victory. “We should work for the party, not for individuals. Our focus should be on alliance partners and ensuring NDA’s success,” he said.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who welcomed Nabin at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, said the NDA is confident of returning to power. “Our target is to secure over 50 per cent vote share. If the people give us 60 seats, that is enough to form the government,” Sarma said.

Highlighting the government’s stance on illegal immigration, Nabin said the NDA will not allow citizens’ rights over votes, land and welfare benefits to be taken away. He said infiltration had earlier been ignored due to vote-bank politics, but the BJP-led government has initiated firm action to protect the rights of genuine citizens.

The session was attended by over 900 delegates, including Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, BJP national vice-president Baijayant Jay Panda, Union Minister Pabitra Margherita, national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh, and Assam BJP general secretary (organisation) Rabindra Raju.
