New Delhi, 22nd Dec: Carrying the message that “Disability does not limit potential—perspective does,” the nine-day Divya Kala Mela 2025 concluded successfully on Sunday at Kartavya Path, India Gate, emerging as a powerful national platform for inclusion, dignity and self-reliance.

Organised by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the mela was held from December 13 to 21 and showcased the entrepreneurial strength, creative excellence and economic contribution of Divyang artisans and entrepreneurs from across the country.

The return of Divya Kala Mela to Kartavya Path marked its 28th edition since the initiative began at the same venue in December 2022. Across editions held nationwide, over 2,362 Divyang participants have taken part, collectively generating business of more than ₹23 crore. In the Delhi edition alone, around 100 Divyang artisans and entrepreneurs from 20 States displayed products ranging from home décor and organic food items to handicrafts, with sales crossing ₹2 crore.

The mela also strengthened employment and financial inclusion. A special job fair on December 16 saw participation from 157 Divyang youth, of whom 99 were shortlisted, with several receiving on-the-spot job offers from reputed companies. To further promote entrepreneurship, the National Divyang Finance and Development Corporation (NDFDC) sanctioned loans exceeding ₹1.05 crore to Divyang entrepreneurs, while Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) facilitated distribution and registration of assistive devices to enhance functional independence.

A key highlight of the closing day was the “Divya Kala Shakti” cultural programme, where Divyang artists from the Delhi-NCR region enthralled audiences with dance and music performances, underscoring that artistic expression transcends physical limitations. The Experience Zone and adaptive sports such as Blind Cricket and Boccia offered visitors deeper insight into the capabilities of persons with disabilities, fostering empathy and social inclusion.

The DEPwD and NDFDC thanked the citizens of Delhi, the local administration and Kartavya Path authorities for their support. Reaffirming its commitment, the Department said similar initiatives will be organised across the country to build an inclusive, opportunity-driven society where Divyangjan are recognised as equal partners in India’s journey towards self-reliance.
