New Delhi, 20th Dec: At least 129 flights were cancelled at Delhi airport on Saturday due to dense fog and low visibility conditions, an official said, as winter weather continued to disrupt air traffic in the national capital.

According to officials, 66 arriving flights and 63 departing flights were cancelled amid poor visibility. Flight operations have been affected for the past several days at Delhi and other airports across north India due to persistent fog.

The airport operator Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said Low Visibility Procedures (LVP) were currently in place. “Low Visibility Procedures are currently in progress at Delhi Airport. All flight operations are functioning normally,” DIAL said in a post on X on Saturday afternoon, indicating that operations were continuing under established safety protocols.

DIAL operates Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), the country’s largest airport, which typically handles around 1,300 flights daily. However, dense fog during winter months often leads to delays and cancellations, affecting thousands of passengers.

Passengers have been advised to check flight status with airlines before heading to the airport, as weather-related disruptions are expected to continue if visibility conditions do not improve.
