New Delhi, 18th Dec: Congress MP from Wayanad Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari at his Parliament office to press for key road infrastructure projects passing through Kerala, in a meeting marked by work, humour and an unexpected culinary interlude.

During the discussion, Priyanka Gandhi raised six highway projects concerning Kerala. Gadkari informed her that some of the projects fall under the jurisdiction of the Kerala government and therefore cannot be handled by the Centre, but assured her that he would examine the remaining proposals.

The meeting saw a lighter moment when Gadkari referred to his recent interaction with Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, who had met him regarding road works in Rae Bareli. “Bhai ke kaam kar diya, behen ka nahin karunga to aap bolenge ki nahin kiya,” Gadkari remarked, drawing laughter from Priyanka Gandhi and others present.

Expressing confidence ahead of the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections, the Wayanad MP told the Union Minister that proposals linked to the state government would be pursued when the Congress comes to power in Kerala, currently ruled by the Left Front.

Adding a personal touch to the meeting, Gadkari served guests a rice dish he had prepared himself after watching cooking videos online. Those visiting his office were offered rice balls accompanied by chutney, and Priyanka Gandhi, along with Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda, was seen tasting the dish while continuing discussions with the minister.
