Delivering his address in fluent Marathi, Scindia praised the dedication and service spirit of postal employees, describing postmen as “bridges of trust” who deliver not just letters, but also banking, insurance and government services to households across the country. He underlined their crucial role in connecting rural India and contributing to national development.
Highlighting several welfare reforms for postal employees, the Union Minister referred to initiatives such as admission of GDS children in Kendriya Vidyalayas, enhancement of allowances, introduction of new uniform and jacket designs, and Project Arrow. He said these reforms reflected the government’s commitment to listening to and empowering its grassroots workforce.
Scindia noted that India Post operates an unparalleled network of over 1.65 lakh post offices serving nearly 6.5 lakh villages. Calling for the transformation of the Department into a modern logistics and service powerhouse, he recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Dakiya ab bank laya”, emphasising India Post’s evolution into a trusted enabler of financial inclusion and citizen services while retaining its core ethos of “Seva Bhav”.
A key highlight of the Sammelan was the felicitation of 10 top-performing Gramin Dak Sevaks from Maharashtra for their exceptional service. The Union Minister personally interacted with the awardees and helped them don the new India Post jacket, cap and postman bag, a gesture that drew loud applause from the gathering.
The event was attended by Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, MP from Kolhapur, Dhananjay Mahadik, MP from Kolhapur, Jitendra Gupta, Director General, Postal Services, Suvendu Kumar Swain, Member (Personnel), Postal Service Board, and Amitabh Singh, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle.
The AI-powered “Bhashini” platform developed under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology was also used during the event, demonstrating the government’s push to leverage artificial intelligence to bridge linguistic and cultural divides in pursuit of a more inclusive Digital India.
In his concluding remarks, Shri Scindia urged postal employees to continue serving with pride, dedication and innovation, and concluded his address with a note of gratitude, saying, “Thank you, Jai Hind.”
