Thiruvananthapuram, 12th Dec: The results of the 2025 Kerala local body elections will be announced on Saturday, when ballots cast by over two crore voters will be counted across 244 centres and 14 district collectorates, the State Election Commission (SEC) said.
Counting will begin at 8 am, and the outcome is expected to influence the political strategies and campaign narratives of all major parties and fronts ahead of the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections.
State Election Commissioner A Shahjahan said the 2025 civic polls recorded the highest voter turnout since 1995, the year when Kerala held its first local body elections.
The two-phase polling saw a total turnout of 73.69%. The second phase, held on Thursday, registered 76.08%, while the first phase, conducted on December 9, recorded 70.91% turnout.
The SEC also announced the schedule for oath-taking ceremonies. Newly elected panchayat members and municipal councillors will take oath on December 21 at 10 am, followed by corporation councillors at 11 am the same day.
The high turnout and keenly contested elections have set the stage for a politically significant result day in Kerala.
