New Delhi, 12th Dec: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Thursday approved the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for copra for the 2026 season, continuing the government’s commitment to ensure remunerative returns for coconut growers.

As per the announcement, the MSP for Fair Average Quality milling copra has been fixed at ₹12,027 per quintal, while the MSP for ball copra has been set at ₹12,500 per quintal for 2026.

This marks an increase of ₹445 per quintal for milling copra and ₹400 per quintal for ball copra over the previous season. The government highlighted that copra MSPs have seen a significant rise since 2014—up 129% for milling copra and 127% for ball copra, compared to MSPs of ₹5,250 and ₹5,500 respectively.

Officials said the higher MSP will ensure coconut growers receive better remunerative prices and will also encourage expansion of copra production to meet the rising demand for coconut-based products in domestic and international markets.

The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) and the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation (NCCF) will continue as Central Nodal Agencies for procuring copra under the Price Support Scheme (PSS).
