India hosts 20th ICH Committee meet at Red Fort with delegates from 150 nations

New Delhi, 8th Dec: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed delight over the commencement of the 20th Session of UNESCO’s Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritage, which opened in India with participation from more than 150 nations.
Calling it a moment of “immense joy”, the Prime Minister said the forum reflects a shared global vision to protect and popularise living cultural traditions. He added that India is honoured to host the important gathering, particularly at the historic Red Fort, a symbol of the country’s cultural legacy.
In a post on X, he wrote, “It is a matter of immense joy that the 20th Session of UNESCO’s Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritage has commenced in India. This forum has brought together delegates from over 150 nations with a vision to protect and popularise our shared living traditions. India is glad to host this gathering, and that too at the Red Fort. It also reflects our commitment to harnessing the power of culture to connect societies and generations.”
The week-long session marks a major cultural milestone for India, reinforcing its role in preserving and promoting heritage at the global level.
