International Workshop on “Gita-Inspired Needonomics for Global Economy” Hosted by SSJ Government PG College, Syalde
Syalde (Almora), 8th December: SSJ Government Post Graduate College, Syalde (Almora) organized an online International Workshop on “Gita-Inspired Needonomics for Global Economy.”
Principal Dr. Abha Agarwal delivered the welcome address and introduced the resource person, Prof. Madan Mohan Goel, Propounder of Needonomics, Former Vice-Chancellor (thrice), and superannuated Professor of Kurukshetra University. Dr. Nirmala Lohani, IQAC In-charge, proposed the vote of thanks.
Prof. Goel conducted the workshop and explained that the education of Needonomics (economics of needs) can foster needo-happiness across educational institutions through the needo-ignition of young minds.
He emphasized that stakeholders of the global economy must adopt Needonomics to address contemporary challenges created by Greedonomics (economics of greed). Drawing from the Gita, he advised, “Collect just enough like a honey bee—enough to sustain, not so much that it destroys,” stressing the need for responsible economic behaviour.
Prof. Goel highlighted the importance of needo-thinking and out-of-the-box solutions in areas such as needo-consumption, needo-saving, needo-production, needo-investment, needo-distribution, needo-altruism, and needo-trade to ensure the needo-wealth, needo-health, and needo-happiness of people.
He urged stakeholders to transform the monkey mind (misuse of AI) into a monk mind (use of SI—Spiritual Intelligence). Needonomics, he asserted, can shape the experiences of the middle class—including women, youth, and political leaders—helping them play their rightful role in building a needo-society.
Prof. Goel concluded by calling upon everyone to become street SMART—Simple, Moral, Action-oriented, Responsive, and Transparent—while embracing Needonomics as a common-sense approach to life and governance.
