DP probes Complaint Against UK-Based Darshan Singh Grewal

GG News Bureau
New Delhi, Dec 8 — The Delhi Police Commissioner has ordered a formal inquiry and full-fledged investigation into a detailed criminal complaint filed by Poonam Sharma, Managing Editor of Global Governance News (GGN)—Asia’s first bilingual news portal on governance and politics.
The complaint accuses Darshan Singh Grewal, a UK-based NRI with known addresses in London and New Delhi, of a range of ethical violations, criminal misconduct, logo misuse, and actions potentially linked to anti-India narratives.

Senior police officials confirmed that the Commissioner has directed both the Special Commissioner and the DCP concerned to conduct a proper investigation into the charges.

Misuse of Official Logos of Media Houses

According to the complaint, Mr. Grewal allegedly used the official logos of Samagra Bharat News and GGN without authorization, circulating them across platforms to project a false association and assumed authority within the organizations.
Ms. Sharma states that such circulation “misled readers, collaborators and even authorities,” creating an impression of official representation that did not exist.

Violation of Editorial Ethics and Misconduct

The complaint alleges that Mr. Grewal attempted to exploit his professional proximity to GGN for “undue and unethical personal advantage.” Multiple senior editors reportedly told the complainant that Mr. Grewal:

attempted to misrepresent his position, used editorial spaces for personal motives, and violated professional ethics despite having full freedom to express his views under GGN’s editorial guidelines. These alleged actions, the complaint says, may amount to criminal breach of trust and professional misconduct.

Concerns Over Alleged Links to Anti-India and Pro-Khalistani Narratives

One of the most serious charges raised involves Mr. Grewal’s alleged proximity to anti-India and pro-Khalistani groups abroad. Ms. Sharma claims he attempted to subtly inject narratives aligned with such groups into Indian media platforms. In the current geopolitical climate, the complainant has urged authorities to assess whether these links were:

incidental, opportunistic, or part of a broader influence operation. The complaint suggests potential implications for national security and public order, urging agencies to conduct a deeper background check.

Call for Probe Into Activities Dating Back to 1982

The complaint spans over four decades of Mr. Grewal’s activities.
It requests an investigation into his financial, professional and personal movements from 1982 to 2025, including:

sources of income, reasons behind shifting base to the UK, nature of his involvement in India, and any role in coordinated propaganda networks.Ms. Sharma argues that unresolved questions surrounding these aspects warrant a comprehensive multi-agency inquiry.

Defamation Allegations Against Senior Media Personalities

The complaint also highlights that Mr. Grewal had recently filed a police complaint at Parliament Street Police Station against:

Kumar Rakesh, senior journalist,

Shri Kuldip Singh Shekhawat, President, Overseas Friends of BJP (UK) & Director, MATV Media Group, London,

Ms. Poonam Gupta, OBE, CEO, PG Paper Company Ltd., Scotland.

Ms. Sharma alleges that the claims made by Mr. Grewal against these individuals are “false, misleading and defamatory,” aimed at damaging professional reputations through social media and other channels. She asserts that he misrepresented advisory or honorary roles as “ownership positions” to bolster his accusations. Police Likely to Seek Statements from All Parties With the Commissioner directing a full inquiry, senior officers are expected to: examine digital evidence, verify the alleged misuse of media logos, investigate possible foreign links, question both complainant and accused, and review past complaints filed by Mr. Grewal. Officials said the matter involves serious charges spanning ethics, cyber misuse, behaviour affecting national interest, and alleged defamation, and will be investigated accordingly.
