Noida, 6th Dec: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday addressed the annual convocation of Amity University in Noida, underscoring the vital role universities play in nurturing talent and shaping India’s future. Congratulating nearly 29,000 graduating students, Goyal said a university’s highest contribution lies in recognising and developing young minds and enabling them to realise their full potential.
He praised Amity University for its merit-driven ecosystem, including scholarships, strong innovation culture and a high share of women students. He also highlighted that over 450 patents have been filed by Amity students and that 50 faculty members are Ramalingam Swami Fellows who have returned to India to serve the nation.
Marking Mahaparinirvan Diwas, Goyal recalled Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s commitment to equality and social harmony, stressing that education remains the most powerful tool for uplifting underprivileged communities. He reminded students of their duty to society and called them an integral part of India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation by 2047.
Reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call from the Red Fort for one lakh youth to embrace public life, the Minister said politics needs committed and principled individuals. He encouraged universities to deepen students’ understanding of governance and public policy, even suggesting internships with elected representatives.
Goyal told graduates that Indian politics must attract more talented young people if the nation is to accelerate its rise as a global power. He emphasised that India’s future rests with a “can-do generation” capable of propelling the country into its next era of development.
Reflecting on the Prime Minister’s five guiding principles from the 2022 Independence Day address, Goyal urged graduates to adopt these national commitments: driving India toward developed-nation status, shedding colonial mindsets, taking pride in heritage, nurturing unity in diversity and embracing the spirit of duty. He suggested that institutions consider traditional Indian convocation attire, symbolising confidence in India’s civilisational identity.
The Minister praised teachers and parents for their contribution to the students’ success and urged graduates to remain connected with their alma mater. He said challenges are inevitable but expressed confidence that the values instilled at Amity University will equip them to meet them with strength and purpose.
Goyal encouraged the graduating batch to push boundaries in their chosen fields and contribute meaningfully to nation-building, asserting that their talent and commitment would shape India’s march toward Viksit Bharat 2047.
