Jammu, 6th Dec: The Kabaddi fraternity of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday paid rich tributes to Late Shri Anil Gupta (Annu Ji), President of the Jammu & Kashmir Amateur Kabaddi Association (JKAKA), at an emotional condolence gathering held at the Kabaddi Field, M.A. Stadium, Jammu. Gupta, a respected sports administrator and a driving force behind Kabaddi’s growth in the region, passed away recently.

A large number of officials, players, coaches and sports supporters assembled to honour his memory and acknowledge his decades-long contribution to the sport and society.

Prominent personalities present included Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Gupta, General Secretary of JKAKA; sports promoter Sh. Ranjit Kalara; Technical Director Sardar S. S. Gill; former General Secretary Sh. Surinder Mohan; Chief Kabaddi Coach Sh. Ajay Gupta; Jammu District Secretary Sh. Sanjit Kumar; former player Sh. Mohan Lal; coaches Sh. Manik Sharma, Sh. Dharamjeet Singh, Mrs. Nisha Rani, Mr. Firdous Ahmed Rather; senior player Mr. Manmeet Singh; member Mr. Shiv Kumar; and J&K Cycling Association Treasurer S. Tajinder Singh.

Players and supporters from across the region also participated in the tribute ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Gupta and Sh. Ranjit Kalara remembered Anil Gupta as a dynamic and compassionate leader who worked tirelessly to elevate Kabaddi in Jammu & Kashmir. They highlighted his efforts to support underprivileged players, expand youth participation and improve sports infrastructure across the Union Territory.

The speakers noted that Gupta’s unwavering commitment and vision laid a strong foundation for the sport’s growth and will continue to inspire athletes and administrators for years to come.

The gathering observed a solemn moment of silence in his memory and collectively reaffirmed their resolve to carry forward his mission to strengthen Kabaddi and promote sporting excellence in Jammu & Kashmir.
