New Delhi, 5th Dec: Senior BJP leader Dr Vijay Jolly has helped secure the repatriation of the mortal remains of Hasim Hamjabhai Gunawala, an Indian citizen from Vapi, Gujarat, who passed away in Tanzania on December 2, 2025. The deceased was admitted to Muhimbili Hospital, Upanga, in Dar es Salaam, where he died of natural causes.

Following an appeal from the grieving family, Dr Jolly wrote to Indian High Commissioner Shri Bishwadip Dey requesting urgent support, including the issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and coordination for transporting the body to India.

Responding promptly, the High Commission of India in Dar es Salaam issued an NOC on December 4, permitting the mortal remains to be flown back to India. The certificate notes that Mr Gunawala, holder of Indian Passport No. Z3691068, died due to natural causes, and authorises all possible assistance for completing his last rites.

The NOC, signed by Assistant Consular Officer Dwarika Prasad, states, “The High Commission of India, Dar es Salaam has no objection in carrying the mortal remains to India. You are kindly requested to render all possible assistance for his last rites.”

The family had contacted the mission through representatives in Tanzania, expressing distress and seeking guidance on procedures for repatriation. They also shared contact details to facilitate coordination with Indian officials.

Dr Vijay Jolly described the intervention as a humanitarian act, emphasising the importance of extending support to Indian citizens and their families during emergencies abroad.

The High Commission is now coordinating with Tanzanian authorities and airlines to ensure the earliest transport of the body to Gujarat, enabling the family to conduct the final rites at their residence in Vapi.
