New Delhi, 5th Dec:
The Congress has announced that it will hold a massive rally at Delhi’s historic Ramlila Maidan on December 14, positioning it as a decisive national movement against what it calls “electoral manipulation” and “a threat to democracy.”

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said the rally will serve as a nationwide message against what the party alleges are the “deceptive strategies” of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Election Commission. He asserted that the gathering aims to “awaken the public” to attempts that, according to the Congress, undermine free and fair elections.

Congress Accuses BJP, EC of Distorting Voter Lists

The party reiterated its charge that the BJP, in “collusion” with the Election Commission, has been engineering electoral rolls by adding bogus voters and removing opposition-leaning voters in key constituencies. Congress leaders say these actions threaten the integrity of India’s democratic process.

According to the leadership, the rally is intended not only as a protest but as a symbolic defence of voter rights, constitutional values, and the transparency of elections.

Rahul Gandhi to Deliver Key Political Message

The December 14 “Maharally” is expected to gain significant political weight with the presence of Rahul Gandhi, who will address supporters and outline the party’s roadmap for resisting what he has repeatedly termed the “systemic assault on democracy.”

Party insiders say the rally will also mark the beginning of a broader, more aggressive nationwide campaign highlighting electoral reforms and institutional accountability.

Two Lakh Workers Expected: Congress to Display Organisational Muscle

The Congress claims that nearly two lakh workers from across the country will participate, transforming the event into one of the party’s largest mobilisations in recent years. Senior leaders believe that such overwhelming attendance will send a clear signal that the public is ready to challenge any attempt to influence electoral outcomes.

The show of strength comes at a time when political temperatures are already rising ahead of upcoming elections, making the rally a crucial moment for the party to reassert its national presence.

Setting the stage for what is likely to be a heated political season, the Congress insists that December 14 will not just be a gathering—but the launch of a nationwide movement to “protect democracy from distortion and defend the sanctity of the vote.”
