New Delhi, 2nd Dec: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated Vedamurti Devavrat Mahesh Rekhe, a 19-year-old Vedic scholar, for completing the Dandakrama Parayanam, a rigorous recitation of 2,000 mantras from the Shukla Yajurveda’s Madhyandini branch, over 50 uninterrupted days.
In his message, the Prime Minister said the young scholar’s achievement will be remembered for generations and praised his dedication to India’s spiritual heritage. “What 19-year-old Vedamurti Devavrat Mahesh Rekhe has done will be remembered by the coming generations,” he posted on X. Modi said every person connected to Indian culture would feel proud of the feat, which involved flawless chanting of several Vedic verses and sacred words.
Expressing special pride as the MP from Kashi, the Prime Minister said he was elated that the extraordinary accomplishment took place in the holy city. He also offered his respects to Rekhe’s family, saints, seers, scholars and organisations across India who supported him.
Rekhe’s 50-day Parayanam, rooted deeply in the guru-shishya tradition, has drawn appreciation from spiritual circles nationwide.
