Sivaganga, 1st Dec: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed deep sorrow over the deaths reported after a tragic accident in Tamil Nadu’s Sivaganga district. The mishap, which occurred during an early-morning commute, resulted in multiple casualties and left several others injured. Local officials said rescue personnel reached the site promptly and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Condoling the incident, the Prime Minister extended his sympathies to the bereaved families and wished a swift recovery for those injured.

In a post on X, he described the accident as “deeply saddening” and announced financial assistance through the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).

An ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh will be provided to the next of kin of each deceased, while those injured will receive ₹50,000.

“The loss of lives due to a mishap in Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu is deeply saddening. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover soon. An ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given ₹50,000,” he posted.

Further details on the cause of the accident are awaited as authorities continue their investigation.
