New Delhi, 25th Nov: The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, through MY Bharat, will launch the National Padyatra of the Sardar@150 Unity March on 26 November from Shastri Maidan, Vallabh Vidyanagar. The launch coincides with Constitution Day and marks the culmination of weeks of unity-themed activities held nationwide under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The padyatra will be flagged off in the presence of prominent leaders, including Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Ministers Smt. Nimuben Bambhaniya and Smt. Anupriya Patel, senior Gujarat ministers, university vice chancellors, and celebrated sportspersons. Thousands of MY Bharat volunteers and youth participants will join the march.
The march has gained strong momentum through extensive pre-event activities. By 24 November, the campaign had covered 613 districts, conducting 1,422 padyatras across district and assembly levels. These events spanned 431 Lok Sabha constituencies, covering over 7,200 kilometres and engaging more than 14.3 lakh citizens.
The National Padyatra will begin at 9:00 am with floral tributes at Sardar Patel’s ancestral residence in Karamsad, followed by a Sardar Sabha at Shastri Maidan. The march will officially begin at noon, embarking on an 11-day journey covering around 180 km to the Statue of Unity in Kevadia.
Day 1 will include stops at Sardar Patel University, Shaheed Chowk, Bhaikaka Circle, Town Hall Circle, Borsad Chokdi, Jitodiya Road, and Andhariya Chokdi, concluding at Navli. Evening events at Navli will feature local performances and cultural programmes, blending Sardar Patel’s legacy with Gujarat’s rich heritage.
Throughout the route, 150 thematic stops will highlight local artisans, government schemes, exhibitions, and interactive sessions conducted by MY Bharat volunteers. Daily Sardar Gatha sessions will bring episodes from Sardar Patel’s life to participants, linking historical insights with contemporary civic duty. Activities such as Gram Sabhas, Swachhata drives, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam plantations, and Swadeshi initiatives will reinforce the padyatra’s message of collective responsibility.
Participants will be encouraged to wear Khadi and support local artisans, promoting the ideals of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Women’s SHGs, Swadeshi stalls, and youth innovators will play an active role, ensuring the padyatra strengthens local communities while honouring national heritage.
The Unity March will conclude on 6 December at the Statue of Unity with a national celebration honouring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose leadership unified 562 princely states and shaped modern India.
