Centenary celebrations in Puttaparthi honour legacy of service, peace and compassion

Puttaparthi, 23rd Nov: Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Sunday attended the Centenary Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba at the Sri Sathya Sai Hill View Stadium in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, praising the spiritual leader’s lifelong mission of serving humanity beyond boundaries.

Addressing the gathering, he described Sri Sathya Sai Baba as “a great emissary of God, of peace, love, and selfless service,” whose life and teachings transcended caste, religion and nationality. He said the guiding principles “Love All, Serve All” and “Help Ever, Hurt Never” continue to inspire millions around the world.

Emphasising the saint’s core values of Truth, Righteousness, Peace, Love and Non-violence, the Vice-President said these eternal principles remain crucial to countering discord and nurturing a more compassionate and progressive society. He urged that moral responsibility, empathy and duty must drive public life.

Highlighting the extensive humanitarian work of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, he commended its free, values-based education, healthcare services and rural outreach. He also praised its role in disaster relief and drinking water projects, noting Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s pivotal role in rejuvenating the Telugu Ganga canal, which ensured drinking water for Chennai.

Radhakrishnan said the saint’s legacy demonstrates how love expressed through service can transform communities and countries. He called on citizens to honour Baba’s memory by helping those in need and promoting peace within families and society.

Concluding his address with the universal prayer “Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu”, he expressed confidence that Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s teachings will continue to illuminate the path for humanity, reminding all that “the greatest worship is service, and the greatest offering is love.”

The Vice-President also witnessed a cultural presentation by students as part of the centenary celebrations.
