Leaders gather in Central Hall to honour India’s first Prime Minister

New Delhi, 14th Nov: Parliamentarians and dignitaries on Friday paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan.
Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh were among the prominent leaders who offered their respects. Members of Parliament, former MPs and several other dignitaries also participated in the commemorative event.
Lok Sabha Secretary General Utpal Kumar Singh and Rajya Sabha Secretary General P.C. Mody joined in paying homage to India’s first Prime Minister, known for his role in shaping post-Independence governance and institutions.
Nehru’s portrait, which forms a key part of the heritage display in the Central Hall, was unveiled on 5 May 1966 by the then President of India, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan.
