Patna, 14th Nov: JDU chief Nitish Kumar is all set to return as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a record tenth term, with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) heading towards a sweeping victory in the 2025 Assembly elections. Senior BJP leaders have confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the swearing-in ceremony, signalling strong backing for Kumar’s leadership.
The NDA has opened up an impressive lead as counting continues across the state. As per the latest trends, the alliance is ahead on 205 out of 243 seats, placing it comfortably above the majority mark. The BJP is performing exceptionally well, leading on 95 seats, while the JDU is close behind with 82 seats, marking a dramatic rise from its 2020 tally of 43.
The Mahagathbandhan, led by the RJD, appears headed for a disappointing outcome. It is trailing significantly, with the RJD ahead on 26 seats and the Congress on just three. The Left parties have made marginal gains, but the INDIA bloc remains far behind the ruling alliance.
Among NDA partners, LJP (Ram Vilas) is leading on 19 seats, while HAM and RLM are ahead on five and four seats, respectively. Smaller players such as AIMIM are leading on six seats, but parties like Jan Suraaj have not been able to open their account.
The massive leads indicate a strong mandate for the NDA’s governance model, with analysts attributing the surge to the BJP’s organisational strength and Nitish Kumar’s administrative record. The alliance’s coordinated campaign and the Prime Minister’s endorsement appear to have translated into widespread voter trust.
With counting still underway across all 46 centres, final results are expected by late evening. However, the trends clearly point towards a decisive victory for the NDA and a milestone tenth term for Nitish Kumar.
