NDA Leads in Bihar; Giriraj Singh Says “Now It’s Bengal’s Turn”

Patna, 14th Nov: With the National Democratic Alliance surging ahead in the Bihar Assembly election trends, Union Minister Giriraj Singh declared that the alliance’s “next target” is West Bengal. Speaking at the peak of counting, Singh said Bihar had rejected “anarchy” and chosen a government committed to development.

“Bihar had decided that a government of anarchy would not be formed. The youth of Bihar are intelligent. This is the victory of development. We have won Bihar. Now it is Bengal’s turn,” Singh said, adding that from the beginning it was evident that the state “would not accept a government of chaos, corruption, or loot.”

He asserted that voters preferred peace and stability. “Even if today’s youth didn’t witness those earlier days, their elders did. When Tejashwi Yadav was in government even briefly, people saw the attempt to spread disorder,” he remarked.

According to current leads, the BJP-led NDA has crossed the majority mark of 122 in the 243-member assembly and is ahead in 160 seats. The Mahagathbandhan, led by Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD, is leading in 78 constituencies. Poll strategist Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party is ahead in two seats.

Exit polls had largely projected a return of the NDA, with an aggregate of nine surveys indicating 147 seats for the alliance and 90 for the Opposition bloc. The RJD was expected to drop from its 2020 tally of 75 seats, while the Congress was predicted to fall to 14 from 19.

The final results will determine whether Nitish Kumar—Bihar’s longest-serving Chief Minister—retains his post for a fifth consecutive term, reinforcing his two-decade-long influence on the state’s politics.
