PM Modi Leaves for Bhutan to Attend Fourth King’s 70th Birth Anniversary
Visit to strengthen bilateral ties, mark Buddha relic exposition and inaugurate Punatsangchhu-II hydropower project

New Delhi, 11th Nov: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day official visit to the Kingdom of Bhutan from November 11–12, 2025. In a statement issued before his departure, PM Modi said it would be his honour to join the people of Bhutan in celebrating the 70th birth anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth King.
Highlighting the deep cultural and spiritual bond between India and Bhutan, the Prime Minister noted that the exposition of the Sacred Piprahwa Relics of Lord Buddha from India during the Global Peace Prayer Festival reflects the two nations’ shared civilisational heritage.
During the visit, PM Modi will also inaugurate the Punatsangchhu-II hydropower project, a major milestone in the growing energy partnership between the two neighbours.
He is scheduled to meet His Majesty the King of Bhutan, His Majesty the Fourth King, and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay. “I am confident that my visit will further deepen our bonds of friendship and strengthen our efforts towards shared progress and prosperity,” Modi stated.
India and Bhutan continue to share close and time-tested ties based on mutual trust, understanding, and goodwill. The Prime Minister reiterated that the partnership stands as a key pillar of India’s Neighbourhood First Policy, serving as a model for friendly relations among neighbouring nations.
