Prof. M.M. Goel Presents Needonomics Vision for Purpose-Driven Fintech to Build the Digital Soul of Bharat at ICICFT 2025, CMR University Bengaluru

Bengaluru, 9th  November: “Purpose-Driven Fintech: A Needonomics Approach to Innovations and Challenges in Digital Bharat” was the theme of valedictory address of  Chief Guest delivered by Prof. Madan Mohan Goel, Propounder  Needonomics School of Thought, Former Vice-Chancellor (thrice), and superannuated Professor of Economics, Kurukshetra University, at the 2nd International Conference on Innovations and Challenges in Financial Technology (ICICFT 2025) organized by CMR University, Bengaluru.

Dr. Sabitha Ramamurthy, Chancellor of CMR University, presided over the function. Prof. H. B. Raghavendra, Vice-Chancellor, delivered the welcome address, while Prof. Bhupendra Bahadur Tiwari, Director, School of Economics and Commerce, presented a citation highlighting the achievements of Prof. Goel. Dr. K. C. Ramamurthy, IPS (Retd.), Chairman of CMR University; Prof. Manoj Kumar of the University of Lucknow; and Shri Akhil Sharma CFO Dubai airports graced the occasion as Guests of Honour and keynote speaker respectively.

Prof. Goel emphasized that Bharat requires a principle-driven, technology-enabled, and trust-anchored system of financial management that ensures simplicity, stability, and digitalization of finance to realize the vision of Viksit Bharat.

He noted that Fintech has already reshaped financial life across Bharat—payments are now instantaneous, savings and credit accessible at the tap of a button, and innovative startups continue to push the boundaries of financial technology. However, he cautioned that the moral measure of success cannot rest on transaction speed or unicorn valuations alone.

Viewing the issue through the Needonomics lens, Prof. Goel explained that the true test of fintech lies in its ability to reduce vulnerability, expand agency, and uphold human dignity. He urged that a purposeful fintech ecosystem must tether technology to ethics, ensure equitable access, and align innovation with the lived needs of ordinary citizens.

“For Bharat to lead not only in digital scale but also in digital soul, regulators, entrepreneurs, and policymakers must share a common compass—to maximize human well-being, minimize exploitation, and design systems for the many, not the few,” he said.

In conclusion, Prof. Goel asserted that Fintech guided by Needonomics transforms from a market-driven innovation into a moral economy of technology—one that serves the needs of Bharat with wisdom, fairness, and compassion.
