WASHINGTON – The Ministry of External Affairs on Friday clarified that it has no information on US President Donald Trump’s reported India visit at the moment.

MEA official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal in a press conference said, “As far as the comments of President Trump regarding his visit to India are concerned, I do not have anything on this to share. I will let you know when I have something to share about it.”

MEA clarification came hours after Trump hinted at his possible India visit next year.

US President DSonald Trump spoke to reporters at the White House, stated “we will figure that out, I will go. Prime Minister Modi is a great man and I will be going”.

He also repeated his claim that India has largely stopped buying crude oil from Russia.

Trump had imposed 25% tariffs on Indian imports along with an additional 25 per cent penalty for purchasing Russian oil.

He accused India of sponsoring Russia’s war with Ukraine by buying Russian oil and arms.

New Delhi denied these allegations stated its energy imports are completely based on the domestic needs.

US imposed steep tariffs also saw the ties between the two countries came under strain, and left a high-stakes trade deal in limbo after both sides failed to reach consensus on several issues.

The ties between New Delhi and Washington came back on track after social media exchange between Trump and Modi, praised each other.

The trade deal talks also resumed and are currently said to be in the final stage for an interim agreement, media reported.
