Kollam, 4th Nov: Vice-President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan on Monday called upon stakeholders to make “Indian Coir” a globally recognised brand, emphasising sustainability, innovation, and modern marketing strategies as the pillars of its future growth.
Interacting with members of the Federation of Indian Coir Exporters’ Associations (FICEA) in Kollam, Radhakrishnan lauded the resilience and progress of India’s coir sector, noting its pivotal role in promoting eco-friendly alternatives across the world.
Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the contribution of exporters and industry leaders in taking the coir industry to new heights. FICEA members recalled his earlier tenure as Chairman of the Coir Board (2016–2020), during which India’s coir exports had doubled due to focused leadership and coordinated industry efforts.
“The world is moving towards sustainable and environmentally friendly materials. By blending traditional knowledge with modern technology, India can enhance the global appeal of coir and establish it as a hallmark of quality and sustainability,” the Vice-President said.
Commending FICEA’s role in uniting exporters and safeguarding industry interests, Shri Radhakrishnan encouraged continued collaboration to make Indian coir synonymous with innovation, craftsmanship, and environmental responsibility.
Concluding his address, he expressed confidence that the coir industry, with its strong leadership and cooperative spirit, would continue to achieve new milestones and bring global recognition to Indian artisans.
