Nainital, 4th Nov: President of India Droupadi Murmu attended the commemoration ceremony marking 125 years of the establishment of Raj Bhavan, Nainital, on Monday.

Addressing the gathering, the President said that just as Rashtrapati Bhavan stands as a symbol of the Republic in independent India, Raj Bhavans represent the democratic framework in the states. She added that after the formation of Uttarakhand, the Nainital Raj Bhavan has become a key part of the state’s journey toward progress.

Highlighting the constitutional significance of the Governor’s role, the President stated, “In a parliamentary system, the Governor is the constitutional head of the state’s governance system. The framers of the Constitution defined the Governor’s powers and duties after deep deliberation.”

She said that the people view Raj Bhavans as revered places, and hence, all members associated with them are expected to uphold ideals of simplicity, humility, morality, and sensitivity.

The President expressed happiness over Uttarakhand’s consistent path of development since its creation and expressed confidence that the Governor and his team would continue to inspire the state’s residents and contribute to its ongoing progress and prosperity.
