Patna, 3rd Nov: In a massive pre-poll crackdown, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has seized over ₹108 crore worth of illicit inducements across Bihar ahead of the 2025 Assembly and bye-elections. The haul includes huge quantities of cash, liquor, drugs, precious metals, and other freebies meant to influence voters.

As per the ECI report released on Monday, the seizures comprise ₹9.62 crore in unaccounted cash, liquor worth ₹42.14 crore (over 9.6 lakh litres), drugs valued at ₹24.61 crore, precious metals worth ₹5.8 crore, and miscellaneous freebies exceeding ₹26 crore.

A total of 824 flying squads have been deployed across Bihar to ensure strict enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The Commission has directed that complaints received on the C-Vigil app must be addressed within 100 minutes.

Reiterating its zero-tolerance policy, the Commission instructed enforcement agencies to closely monitor the movement of cash, drugs, and liquor while ensuring that ordinary citizens are not harassed during inspections.

Citizens and political parties can report MCC violations through the C-Vigil App on ECINET or lodge complaints by dialing 1950, a 24×7 helpline connecting directly to the concerned election officers.
