Haridwar, 2nd Nov: President of India Droupadi Murmu attended the second convocation ceremony of the University of Patanjali in Haridwar on Sunday, commending the institution’s efforts in promoting India’s traditional knowledge systems alongside modern research.
Addressing the gathering, President Murmu said that India’s great personalities have profoundly contributed to the evolution of human civilization. Referring to Maharishi Patanjali, she noted that the sage purified the mind through yoga, speech through grammar, and the body through Ayurveda — and appreciated the University’s efforts to make his teachings accessible to society.
She lauded the University of Patanjali for advancing education and research in yoga, Ayurveda, and naturopathy, calling it an admirable initiative contributing to the vision of a healthy India.
Highlighting the University’s India-centered educational approach, President Murmu said that blending ancient Vedic wisdom with cutting-edge scientific research and addressing global challenges embodies the evolving Indian knowledge tradition.
The President also urged students to live in harmony with nature, stressing that protecting the environment is crucial for humanity’s future. She expressed confidence that the graduates would help tackle global challenges, including climate change, with responsibility and awareness.
Murmu underscored that the spirit of universal brotherhood and the wish for collective well-being form the cornerstone of Indian culture. “Nurturing individuals leads to nurturing families, society, and ultimately the nation,” she said, adding that the University of Patanjali exemplifies nation-building through individual development.
Concluding her address, the President expressed confidence that students educated in this institution would uphold moral values and contribute to building a healthy, harmonious, and developed India.
