WASHINGTON – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met with the new designate US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, in New Delhi, according to media reports and the PMO office.
Modi expressed his confidence that Gor’s tenure would further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
PM Modi said in a post on X “Glad to receive Mr. Sergio Gor, Ambassador-designate of the US to India. I’m confident that his tenure will further strengthen the India–US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.”
Gor was confirmed as the US Ambassador to India by the US Senate on October 8, 2025, with 51 senators voted in favor and 47 against.
Gor, 38 became the youngest US ambassador to India.
He has been a close ally of President Donald Trump and served as the Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office.
Gor’s appointment underscored the US commitment to strengthening ties with India, particularly in the areas of defense, technology, and trade.
He also met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, discussed ways to deepen cooperation under the bilateral strategic partnership framework.
The key areas of cooperation include strengthening cooperation in defense and security to promote regional stability and security, enhancing trade ties and resolving outstanding trade issues between the two countries, and promoting cooperation in areas like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and renewable energy, media reported.
Modi and Gor meeting highlighted the growing importance of the India-US relationship, with both countries seeking to strengthen their strategic partnership in various areas.
