Mehsana, 9th Oct: Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, inaugurated the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) at Mehsana today alongside Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister highlighted Gujarat’s pivotal role in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Vaishnaw emphasized that Gujarat is emerging as a foundational hub for semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, and modern logistics. “Gujarat works in new ways, finds new solutions every day, and keeps moving forward. This spirit, coupled with the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has paved a powerful development path for both Gujarat and India,” he said.

He highlighted key investments in the sector, including Tata Electronics in Dholera, Micron in Sanand, and plants of CG Power and KEC, amounting to ₹1,25,000 crore. Around 30 Japanese companies are setting up units to supply ultra-pure materials for semiconductors, boosting quality standards for other industries like pharmaceuticals and chemicals. The Central Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme has received proposals worth ₹1,15,000 crore, while advanced training programs in semiconductor tools and 5G labs have been launched at Ganpat University and 12 other colleges.

Vaishnaw also praised Gujarat’s leadership in clean energy, citing the Khawada green energy project in Kutch as a global benchmark.

On railways, he detailed that Gujarat has witnessed investments of ₹1,46,000 crore, with 2,764 km of new railway lines laid—equivalent to Denmark’s entire network. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project is underway, with the first train expected in August 2027. The freight corridor has cut container train transit from 30 hours to just 10–11 hours, with 400 trains operating daily on Eastern and Western corridors. Additionally, 87 railway stations are being modernized, and 332 flyovers and underpasses are under construction.

The Minister also invited industry, academia, and global investors to engage with Gujarat’s roadmap for a “Developed India 2047,” emphasizing self-reliance and local innovation.

The event also showcased a trade exhibition with over 400 participants from agriculture, food processing, renewable energy, and leading corporates including Torrent, Welspun, NHPC, NTPC, Suzlon, Adani, Maruti Suzuki, and ONGC. A Vendor Development Program will further strengthen industry linkages and promote growth of local enterprises.
