New Delhi, 8th Oct: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Dr. Jitendra Singh has called for the “Swachhta” campaign to integrate technology-driven solutions and ‘waste to wealth’ methodologies to promote self-reliance. Speaking on October 7, 2025, he emphasized that citizen awareness is key to making cleanliness a habit and a part of daily life.
Dr. Singh cited examples such as AIIMS’ lab waste recycling initiative, which converts hazardous waste into inert, recyclable material, and the Kumbh Mela waste-water treatment system, which repurposes treated water for irrigation. He stressed that such measures showcase how Swachhta can leverage technology for sustainable impact.
Highlighting e-waste reprocessing and recycling of cooking oil, Dr. Singh noted that these initiatives generate valuable by-products like ethanol while preventing health hazards. He asserted that self-reliant, tech-enabled solutions strengthen indigenous products and reduce dependence on imports.
Secretary DARPG Shri V. Srinivas reaffirmed the department’s commitment to the successful implementation of Special Campaign 5.0, running from October 2–31, 2025, focusing on cleanliness and reducing pending work across government ministries.
The Minister emphasized that campaigns like Swachhta 5.0 not only foster a cleaner and greener environment but also encourage healthier lifestyles and efficient work practices through digital and technological innovations.
