CM Nitish Transfers ₹2,920 Cr Under Bihar Education Schemes
CM launches DBT transfer, inaugurates 331 education projects worth ₹958 crore, and highlights 18-fold rise in Bihar’s education budget.

Patna, 4th Oct: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday transferred ₹2,920 crore directly into the bank accounts of 49.09 lakh students through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under various state education and student welfare schemes. The transfer was made via video conferencing from his official residence ‘Sankalp’ at 1 Aney Marg.
DBT Benefits for Students
The amount covered several flagship welfare schemes of the Bihar government, including:
- Mukhyamantri Balika (Intermediate Pass) Protsahan Yojana
- Mukhyamantri Cycle Yojana
- Mukhyamantri Balika Poshak Yojana
- Mukhyamantri Balak Poshak Yojana
- Scholarship Scheme
- Kanya Utthan Yojana
These initiatives aim to provide direct financial assistance to students, ensuring inclusivity and support for their educational journey.
Infrastructure Boost: 331 Projects Worth ₹958.79 Crore
During the event, the Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 331 education department projects worth ₹958.79 crore.
- Inauguration of 259 projects worth ₹426.10 crore
- Foundation stone laid for 72 projects worth ₹532.69 crore
These projects will strengthen infrastructure with new school buildings, science labs, libraries, computer labs, hostels, toilets, and drinking water facilities, enhancing the quality of education in Bihar.
18-Fold Rise in Education Budget
Highlighting the government’s commitment, Kumar said that since November 2005, Bihar has continuously worked to improve its education system.
- Education budget in 2005: ₹4,366 crore
- Current education budget: ₹77,690 crore
He added that teacher recruitment, new school buildings, and infrastructure development have brought major changes to the state’s education landscape.

“Providing quality education to every child is our top priority,” Kumar said, reaffirming that the state government is dedicated to student welfare schemes and new education policies.
The event was attended by Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, Education Minister Sunil Kumar, Principal Secretary to CM Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, Development Commissioner Dr. S. Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary of Education Dr. B. Rajendra, State Project Director Mayank Warwade, and other senior officials.
