New Delhi, 4th Oct: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday welcomed US President Donald Trump’s role in advancing peace in Gaza, calling the latest developments a decisive step forward in resolving the crisis.
Modi said the reported progress on the release of hostages represented a “major breakthrough” in ongoing humanitarian and diplomatic negotiations.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister wrote, “We welcome President Trump’s leadership as peace efforts in Gaza make decisive progress. Indications of the release of hostages mark a significant step forward. India will continue to strongly support all efforts towards a durable and just peace.”
India has maintained that its foreign policy approach to the Middle East prioritises humanitarian assistance, dialogue, and the safeguarding of civilian lives. Modi reaffirmed that New Delhi remains steadfast in backing initiatives that contribute to a just and lasting resolution in the region.
The message comes amid intensified international negotiations aimed at securing peace and stability in Gaza, where diplomatic channels are working to prevent further escalation and to ensure humanitarian relief reaches civilians.
