New Delhi, 3rd Oct: WhatsApp has long held a monopoly in India with over half a billion active users, but Arattai, a made-in-India messaging app by Zoho Corp, is emerging as a credible alternative.

Arattai offers several features that distinguish it from WhatsApp. The Pocket feature acts as personal cloud storage, allowing users to save messages, notes, and media across devices. Unlike WhatsApp, the app does not impose AI features, providing a distraction-free experience.

The Meetings feature enables instant, scheduled, or ongoing meetings directly within the app, removing the need for separate platforms like Zoom or Google Meet. A Mentions tab helps users track group mentions efficiently, preventing important messages from being lost in notifications.

Arattai promises an ad-free experience, storing all user data in Indian data centers. Voice and video calls are end-to-end encrypted, though plain text messages are not fully encrypted yet. By combining privacy, convenience, and innovation, Arattai positions itself as a strong challenger to WhatsApp in India.
