New Delhi, 1st Oct: The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, has extended her greetings to citizens on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, marking the 156th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
In her message, President Murmu said, “On behalf of all citizens, I pay my humble tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. This is an occasion to dedicate ourselves to his ideals and values. Gandhiji’s message of peace, tolerance, and truth continues to inspire humanity. He devoted his life to eradicating social evils like untouchability, illiteracy, and addiction, providing strength and support to the weaker sections of society.”
Highlighting Gandhiji’s emphasis on self-reliance, President Murmu added, “He gave the message of self-reliance through the Charkha, aiming to build a self-reliant, self-sufficient, and educated India. He also promoted the dignity of labour through his conduct and teachings. His values remain relevant today and will continue to guide us in the future.”
Concluding her message, the President urged citizens to uphold Gandhiji’s principles, “On this auspicious occasion, let us resolve to follow the path of truth and non-violence, remain committed to the welfare and progress of the nation, and realize Gandhi ji’s dream by building a cleaner, capable, empowered, and prosperous India.”
