New Delhi, 27th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced financial assistance for those affected by the tragic stampede at a political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) will be provided to the next of kin of each person who died, while ₹50,000 will be given to those injured.
In posts on X, the PMO said the Prime Minister expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and assured support to the injured. A Tamil statement was also shared for the affected families in the state.
The stampede at actor-politician Vijay’s rally in Karur on Saturday claimed 39 lives and left 46 injured, prompting a state-level probe and nationwide condolences.
