PM Modi Hails Bihar’s New Ramsar Sites as Wetlands Conservation Milestone

New Delhi, 27th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the inclusion of two new wetlands from Bihar in the Ramsar list, calling it a proud step for India’s environmental efforts.

The new sites—Gokul Jalashay in Buxar district (448 hectares) and Udaipur Jheel in West Champaran (319 hectares)—were recently recognised as Ramsar Sites, which are globally significant wetlands.

Responding to Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav’s announcement on X, the Prime Minister said wetlands are vital for sustainable development and praised the people of Bihar for leading by example in environmental conservation.
