Lucknow, 27th Sept: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday called Dussehra a festival of triumph over evil and directed a statewide crackdown on those “creating unrest and disturbances.”

Chairing a late-night law-and-order review with senior officials, Mr. Adityanath expressed displeasure over recent provocative processions and slogans in Kanpur Nagar, Varanasi, Moradabad, Budaun, Maharajganj, Unnao, Sambhal, Agra and Bareilly, calling them “a well-planned conspiracy to disturb peace.” He ordered immediate FIRs, property checks of organisers and masterminds, and action based on video and social-media evidence.

“No wrongdoer involved in these processions should be spared,” he said, instructing police to scan footage, monitor social media and arrest rumour-mongers spreading false reports of drone reconnaissance or theft in districts like Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Basti and Prayagraj.

The chief minister reiterated zero tolerance for crimes against women, warning that police stations, outposts and PRVs will be held accountable for any lapse in cases of molestation, chain-snatching or acid attacks. He also demanded vigilance against disguised offenders at garba and dandiya events during Mission Shakti 5.0 and stressed that caste-based provocations “must be eradicated.”

Adityanath urged Durga Puja committees to ensure safe Ravana Dahan ceremonies and ordered surprise inspections of slaughterhouses to curb cow smuggling.

With large crowds and foreign buyers thronging the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show in Greater Noida—where 49,000 visitors were recorded on day two—he instructed officials to maintain tight security and prevent traffic snarls through the weekend.
