“World Food India: Event of Context, Content, Creativity”: PM Modi

New Delhi, 27th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the fourth edition of World Food India 2025 at Bharat Mandapam on September 25, reinforcing India’s role as the “food basket of the world.” The flagship event, organised by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), showcased innovations in nutrition, low-oil consumption, and sustainable packaging.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said, “World Food India has emerged as the event of context, content, and creativity. India’s diversity, demand, and scale give it a decisive competitive edge in the global food economy.” He underlined India’s positive role in ensuring global food security amid 21st-century challenges.

The opening day witnessed the signing of MoUs worth over ₹76,000 crore with leading domestic and global players, covering beverages, dairy, and confectionery sectors across states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Punjab, West Bengal, and the Northeast.

A high-level CEO roundtable, co-chaired by Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Chirag Paswan, brought together industry leaders from Britannia, PepsiCo, AMUL, ITC, Nestlé, Mondelez, Tata Consumer Products, Coca-Cola, and Marico. Gadkari stressed the need to boost agro-processing to realise the Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, while Paswan assured the industry of government support.

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Patrushev, Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav, and senior officials from Centre and states attended the event. Knowledge sessions were also held by Manipur, Russia, and multiple central ministries.
