Chandigarh, 26th Sept: The Haryana government on Thursday marked the birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay with a series of women-centric welfare measures, headlined by the launch of the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana to strengthen economic independence and inclusive growth.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said the initiative reflects the Antyodaya philosophy of reaching the last person in society. “A nation can be truly great only when its women are safe, educated and respected. Haryana is determined to ensure that women and daughters are empowered, self-reliant and active participants in the mainstream of society. The Lado Lakshmi Yojana is a step in this direction,” he stated.

Under the first phase, about 20 lakh women aged 23–60 years from families with an annual income of up to ₹1 lakh will receive ₹2,100 per month directly in their bank accounts. Every eligible woman in a household may apply, with no cap on beneficiaries. The programme carries an annual budget of ₹5,000 crore for 2025-26.

To ease access, the government rolled out a dedicated mobile app for registration, verification and grievance redressal, making the process fully digital. Women can register without visiting offices or service centres. A toll-free helpline (1800-180-2231) and a support line (0172-4880500) are operational. Within hours of launch, the app recorded about 50,000 downloads and 8,000 applications. Saini urged young women to plan ahead, remarking that “daughters below 23 should celebrate their 23rd birthday by applying for the scheme.”

The chief minister also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth ₹326.25 crore, including upgrades to 10 health institutions and works under the Public Works Department and Urban Local Bodies.

Highlighting the Centre’s efforts, Saini cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives for women, noting that over 2.13 lakh women in Haryana have become “Lakhpati Didis,” while 100 have received drones and training under the “Drone Didi” scheme. Other state measures include free education for girls up to post-graduation, a creche policy, 33 all-women police stations and the 1091 women’s helpline.
