New Delhi, 26th Sept: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated 11 Centralised Accident and Trauma Services (CATS) ambulances in the city, saying the government aims to ensure that emergency medical help reaches residents faster than even pizza delivery.
The CM highlighted that the ambulance fleet will expand to 53 by October and eventually scale up to 1,000, ensuring timely access to emergency care across the capital.
Alongside the ambulance rollout, Rekha Gupta unveiled several healthcare initiatives, including new schemes under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), an organ transplant awareness portal, and the launch of a District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC). She emphasised that the DEIC will provide early screening, diagnosis, and intervention for children with developmental delays and disabilities.
“The goal is to have an ambulance reach a patient even before a pizza is delivered in Delhi,” she said, underlining the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery in the city.
