New Delhi, 24th Sept: The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday approved the payment of a Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) equivalent to 78 days’ wages for nearly 10.91 lakh non-gazetted railway employees, with a total outlay of ₹1,865.68 crore.
The annual PLB, traditionally disbursed before Durga Puja/Dussehra, will benefit employees across categories including track maintainers, loco pilots, train managers, station masters, technicians, pointsmen, and ministerial staff. The maximum payable amount is ₹17,951 per eligible employee.
The decision follows the Railways’ robust performance in FY 2024–25, during which it carried 7.3 billion passengers and achieved a record freight loading of 1,614.90 million tonnes. The Cabinet said the bonus will incentivise staff to further enhance operational efficiency.
