NEW YORK – French President Emmanuel Macron who is in New York City to attend the United Nations General Assembly session on Tuesday was briefly stopped  by New York police to allow US President Donald Trump’s convoy to pass, media reported.

The road was reopened, and Macron, choosing not to return to his car, continued his journey on foot once Trump’s convoy passed.

Macron stepped out of his car and approached a police officer to ask about the delay as he stranded on the street.

A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media. In the footage, Macron is seen speaking with an officer, who explained that the road was closed for Trump’s convoy.

“I am sorry, Mr. President. Everything is blocked now,” the officer told him.

Macron then called his US counterpart while still standing near the barricade.

“How are you? Guess what happened? I am waiting in the street because everything is closed for you,” Macron was heard telling Trump.

The passersby asked him for selfies, and one admirer even kissed him on the forehead, media reported.
