Trump says ‘Ukraine can reclaim all its territory from Russia’

UNITED NATIONS – US President Donald Trump on Tuesday reversed his previous stance on Ukraine, stated that Kyiv, with EU and NATO support can reclaim all its territory from Russia.

Trump said that Ukraine, with the support of the European Union and NATO, is in a position to fight and win all of Ukraine back in its original form.

He said in a post on Truth Social, “After getting to know and fully understand the Ukraine/Russia military and economic situation, and after seeing the economic trouble it is causing Russia, I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form. With time, patience, and the financial support of Europe and, in particular, NATO, the original borders from where this war started are very much an option.”

Trump’s stance is different from his earlier position on Ukrainian territory occupied by Russia.

He had suggested that Ukraine should give up the land taken by Russia to end the war, a proposal rejected by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European allies.

Zelenskyy and European allies have opposed any territorial compromise.

Trump said this is the right time for Ukraine to act, as Russia is facing major economic problems.

He argued that Russia has been fighting “aimlessly” for three and a half years, calling Moscow “a paper tiger.”

Trump said Ukraine would be able to take back the country in its original form and, “who knows, maybe even go further than that.”

He also told reporters that NATO should shoot down Russian military aircraft that enter NATO airspace on the sidelines of the UNGA.

Russia has seized control of 20% of Ukrainian territory.

Moscow had already annexed Crimea in 2014, a region it treats as outside the current conflict.
