New Delhi, 19th Sept: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has officially unveiled the logo and flagship initiatives for the India-AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled to take place on February 19–20, 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. This landmark event marks the first time a Global South nation will host such a large-scale international summit on Artificial Intelligence.

Guided by the three sutras of People, Planet, and Progress, the summit aims to spotlight AI’s potential to drive inclusive growth, sustainability, and innovation. To translate this vision into practice, discussions will revolve around seven thematic Chakras: Human Capital, Inclusion, Safe & Trusted AI, Resilience, Science, Democratizing AI Resources, and Social Good.

A Logo Reflecting Ethics and Innovation

The official summit logo, unveiled in the presence of Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, MoS S. Krishnan, Additional Secretary Abhishek Singh, Principal Scientific Advisor Prof. Ajay Sood, IndiaAI COO Kavita Bhatia, and AI pioneer Prof. Stuart Russell (University of California, Berkeley), integrates the Ashoka Chakra with neural network motifs. The design represents India’s commitment to ethical governance, technological progress, and inclusive digital transformation.

Highlighting India’s rapid strides in AI infrastructure, Shri Vaishnaw noted:
“Our main goal was to provide better compute facilities to students and researchers. From an initial target of 10,000 GPUs, today we are at 38,000 GPUs—a remarkable achievement. The upcoming 570 AI Data Labs will further democratize opportunities in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of equitable access to technology.”

Flagship Initiatives Announced

The India-AI Impact Summit 2026 will showcase an ambitious set of initiatives:

  • AI Pitch Fest (UDAAN): A platform for innovative AI startups, especially from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, with focus on women leaders and differently-abled innovators.
  • Global Innovation Challenges: Encouraging youth and women to design AI solutions for real-world public challenges.
  • Research Symposium: A one-day interdisciplinary forum to present cutting-edge AI research and foster collaborations between India, the Global South, and global institutions.
  • AI Expo: Featuring 300+ exhibitors from India and 30+ countries, spread across 10+ thematic pavilions.

Additionally, eight new IndiaAI Foundation Model projects were launched, spanning domains such as multilingual AI, healthcare, STEM reasoning, scientific discovery, and industrial innovation. Major initiatives include Avatar AI, Bharat Gen (IIT Bombay Consortium), BrahmAI (Zenteiq), and Fractal’s reasoning model.

Building India’s AI Ecosystem

A significant announcement was the dedication of 30 IndiaAI Data and AI Labs, the first step in establishing a nationwide network of 570 labs. Spread across Tier 2 and 3 cities in partnership with NIELIT and industry leaders like Intel, these labs will deliver training in data annotation, curation, and foundational AI skills.

To nurture talent, the IndiaAI Fellowship Program has been expanded to support 13,500 scholars across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, on par with the prestigious PM Research Fellowships. Applications are now open at fellowship.indiaai.gov.in.

Global Significance

As world leaders, policymakers, researchers, and innovators gather in New Delhi, the summit positions India as a convener of the Global South in shaping AI for inclusive progress. By championing ethical, resource-efficient, and socially impactful AI, India aims to demonstrate how technology can serve humanity, protect the planet, and advance equitable growth.
